Honors Mentorship
The Importance of Leadership
I want to start off by saying how impressed I am, JD is a 16 years old a year younger than myself in this video and he is doing a TED talk, and a very well-spoken one. the part of his speech that really spoke to me was when he talked about how the retired population is the most outspoken group of people on important issues. We as the generation and the Millennials take the side of indifference, basically we don't care. It is important that as the next generation of workers we take a side on politics and major issues facing the world today. There is more to life than our phones and we need to take part in it.
My Statement:
In order for me to be an agent for change I need to find an outlet. A passion I have is helping people which is one reason I'm interested in becoming a nurse, specifically a pediatric nurse. An outlet I can use to become an agent for change is through volunteering in hospitals or day cares. Being able to help one child is enough to create a change.

The Importance of Communication
We talk to our friends more casually then we would our family and our family more relaxed then a possible employer. With our friends our verbal communication is informal not using proper grammar or manners. With our parents our aural communication is lacking we choice not to listen or hear what they are saying the majority of the time but we are still respectful. With future employers we have more non-verbal communication such as nodding and shaking hand. Our verbal is very polite and professional.
When talking to my mentor I will need to first actively listening to what she is saying and the different communication skills she is using so I can communicate effectively and appropriately.

Work Ethic
Work ethic is about how well you work in the environment you are in. there are three key factors interpersonal skills, initiative, and being dependable. Interpersonal skills are how we communicate with others in both a group setting and in one on one situations. Initiative is getting your work done in a timely fashion without procrastination. Lastly being dependable is bout honest, on time and reliable.
After using the Occupational Work Ethic Inventory instrument, I have found how I score in each. Knowing your score can help you determine what skills you need to work on developing to obtain a strong work ethic. After taking the test I have found I need to work on my initiative the most. I need to procrastinate less and get my work done in a timelier manner.
My Scores:
Interpersonal score is 6.81 out of 7
Initiative score is 6.44 out of 7
Dependability total is 6.86 out of 7

Time Management and Juggling Responsibilities
I use time management to handle my responsibilities by planning my week out on Mondays giving planning out m time for homework, exercise, my internship, and free time. I write down my homework and activities for each day in my agenda so if I need to rearrange my schedule for the day, shorting a workout or free time, I can: to be able to complete all my required and important work. In nursing time management is very important. In nursing you have to do a lot of logistical work that requires time management: charts, prescriptions, and scheduling procedures. These jobs are done alongside caring for your patients so you have to strategically work in time for these tasks.
Millennial Workers
Some challenges youth face in the workplace relates to how our generation was raised. We have always been told good job receiving trophies for participation, always given attention and help, and never learning self responsibility. Young employees are considered to loud, unorganized, and selfish. Even those who are not this way are put in this category due to the stigma many millennials have created.
Social intelligence is basically the ability to find the good in a situation and navigating through social situations in a mature way. It is important because in order to be successful in a career you have to interact with others and not everyone will have the same opinion and values.
Personally I feel the way they described youth in the business world made me feel disappointed in my generation because the name we have made for ourselves.I try very hard to not act this way and others have made it to where people assume that I am that also making it difficult for those of us who are not like them to get a job.
